Research into hazardous material releases due to natural disasters
December 3, 2012BSTI’s Nicholas Santella PhD, in conjunction with a researcher from the Disaster Research Center at the University of Delaware, recently visited the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Emergency Operations Center in the Edison, NJ. as part of ongoing research into hazardous material releases due to natural disasters. They conducted interviews with key personnel involved in managing the EPA's response to Hurricane Sandy. The goal of these efforts is to better estimate and manage the risks associated with hazardous material releases resulting from natural hazards.
