Widespread Elevated Atmospheric SF6 Mixing Ratios in the Northeastern United States: Implications for Groundwater Dating

Elevated levels of SF6 near urban areas were quantified based on concentrations in soil air. This article discusses how observed concentrations in the North East US can lead to significant errors in predicted groundwater age if elevated atmospheric concentrations are not accounted for.
